THE SRI LANKA ARMY ATHLETICS COMMITTEE SEEKS A DATE IN 2022

The Sri Lanka Army Athletics Championships serve as the launch pad to national and international recognition for athletes of the Sri Lanka Army and act as a platform for recognizing skilled athletes to the nation.

In realizing this national endeavor, a pre-discussion was held with the participation of committee representatives of Sri Lanka Army Athletics and Para Athletics preceded by Major General D G S Senarath Yapa RWP RSP ndu, the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force and Chairman of the Sri Lanka Army Athletics and Para Athletics, at the Headquarters of the Volunteer Force on 23 June 2022.

The discussion primarily centered on the initial competitions of Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force Athletics Championships – 2022, Sri Lanka Army Para Athletics Championships – 2022, and Sri Lanka Army Novices Athletics Championships – 2022 which are staged as annual events of the Sri Lanka Army to be taken place around the places of Army Cantonment, Panagoda in compliance with the prevailing situation of the country. This would pay the way for claiming for an economical conclusion.

Further, it is scheduled to conduct the closing ceremony of the subject championships integratedly under the auspicious of the Army Commander, Lieutenant General HLVM Liyanage RWP RSP ndu. Currently, the closing ceremony has been set to take place on 04 August 2022.

Each championship carries peculiar classical significance in nourishing and moulding skilled athletes who are under varied recognition of capabilities in the Sri Lanka Army. Especially, Sri Lanka Army Para Athletics Championships would claim for supremacy of athletic talents reflecting unfading heroism of warriors who have been affected at the battle field.

Initiatives were taken to successfully mark the conclusion of the championships under the directions and instructions of the chairman of the Sri Lanka Army Athletics and Para Athletics undertaking institutional dynamics in the country and further emphasized on necessity of conducting these challenging championships which provide potential benefits to the establishment be glamour in honour.

The Army Athletics Championships conference was attended by respective delegates, senior officers, and officers in the committees.
