VOLUNTEER FORCE TRAINING SCHOOL CELEBRATES ITS 118TH ANNIVERSARY UNDER THE PATRONAGE OF COMMANDANT SRI LANKA ARMY VOLUNTEER FORCE

Glorifying the celebrations of the 118th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force Training School, Diyathalawa, the ‘SIX IN ONE MALL’ Multi Facility Welfare Complex, established in the Training School premises, was inaugurated on 05 December 2021 by Major General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force at the invitation of Colonel H A Keerthinatha RSP KSP psc the Commandant of the SLAVFTS.

Major General Vikum Liyanage during a simple and impressive ceremony unveiled the plaque and declared it open for the benefit of the troops serving at the SLAVFTS. This Multi Facility Welfare Complex which was brought to completion using the manpower of volunteer troops, is equipped with a Mini plaza, Cafeteria, Stationery Shop, Salon, Tailor Shop and Laundry.

In parallel with the main programme, a troop address headed by Commandant SLAVF, was held to express his opinions and directions on the future development strategy of the SLAVFTS, in keeping with the Army Commander’s ‘Sri Lanka Army Way Forward Strategy 2020 -2025’.Further, he elucidated the inception and the proud history of SLAVFTS to the gathering.

Marking the visit to the Training School, the Commandant SLAVF planted a ‘Na’ sapling in the camp premises.

Major General J D C G Jayasinghe KSV KSP Deputy Commandant SLAVF, Brigadier P N Godellawatta USP psc Principal Staff Officer, Brigadier A C A De Zoysa USP Hdmc Lsc Brigadier Logistics and Brigadier SN Samarawickrama KSP Inspector of Training along with other senior officers were present to witness the occasions.

The programme of the day was underway with strict adherence to the health directives issued for COVID – 19.
