MAJOR GENERAL H L V M LIYANAGE RWP RSP ndu TAKES OVER DUTIES AS COMMANDANT OF THE SRI LANKA ARMY VOLUNTEER FORCE

Major General H L V M Liyanage RWP RSP ndu assumed duties as the 47th Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force amidst military formalities accomplished at the Volunteer Force Headquarters premises, Seethawaka on 05 October 2021.

The day’s proceedings in connection with the assumption of duties as the Commandant began with reviewing of the Guard Turnout accorded in his honour. The Senior Officer was warmly received by Major General J D C G Jayasinghe KSV KSP, the Deputy Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force. The Senior Officer was awarded an elegant Guard of Honour by the troops of Sri Lanka National Guard.

The Senior Officer, amidst invoking blessings of all religions, placed his signature on an official document, symbolizing the formal acceptance of his new appointment at the auspicious time.

Marking his inaugural address, he spelt out his pleasure for the conferment of this prestigious appointment of which a circumstance is rarely deserved in the military career. Especially, the Senior Officer extended his compliments on the role and tasks which have voluntarily been executed by the successors of the Volunteer Force, and saluted its predecessors who contributed to safeguard the nation in the face of different scenarios since its inception. Further, he emphasized on being compliance with the Army’s ‘Way Forward Strategy’ while heading towards a professionally qualified army.

Signifying his inauguration of the office as the Commandant, the Senior Officer planted a sapling in the new camp premises.

A gathering of Senior Officers nominated attended the occasion to congratulate on his new appointment.

The programme of the day was underway with strict adherence to the health directives issued for COVID – 19.
