COMMANDANT, SRI LANKA ARMY VOLUNTEER FORCE VISITS VOLUNTEER FORCE TRAINING SCHOOL

Accrediting honour and respect towards one of the oldest establishments which perpetrates as a Training School of the Sri Lanka Army (since 1903), Major General K N S Kotuwegoda ndc IG made a formal observation visit to the Volunteer Force Training School (VFTS) on 26 March 2021 after assumption of duties as the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF ).

The Commandant was warmly received by Col HA Keerthinatha RSP KSP psc, the Commandant VFTS and he was accorded with a Guard of Honour on his arrival to the Training School.

Making his inaugural speech, he recollected the memories of the reputable history of the Training School which dated back to 1903. The Commandant, cited upon the responsibility of the Training School which has been assigned, and its accountability for upgrading the training ensuring qualitative development of a trainee. Being the foremost establishment which provides training facility for the members of the Volunteer Force, every strategic development needs to be intensively appraised so that to bring a methodological approach in the training process.

Further, in the context of training, the Commandant emphasized on the significant of the role played by an instructor which carries a consequential effect of moulding a military personality who is emotionally and physically strong. At this transforming period of converting a trainee who upholds a non-military entity to a military disposition, the training must be carefully conditioned so that to pave the way for a profound journey in the military career preserving its dignity and satisfaction.

Concluding his speech, the Commandant assured his contribution for the future upliftment of the Training School.

Major General Sampath Kotuwegoda laid the foundation stone for the “Cafeteria Complex” which is going to be structured very recently in the Training School.

Signifying the honorary visit to the Volunteer Force Training School, a memento was presented by Col HA Keerthinatha to Major General Sampath Kotuwegoda and he made a historical sign on the visitors’ book.
