Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force bade farewell to Major General JMUD Jayasinghe upon his relinquishment of the office as Commandant and retirement from the Sri Lanka Army. In honour of his service to the organization a formal farewell dinner was accorded at the officers’ Mess, HQ SLAVF on 25 February 2021. He was the 44th Commandant of the prestigious Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force. At the arrival of Commandant and his lady, Mrs WA D Deepthi Champika to the officers’ Mess were warmly welcomed by Deputy Commandant of the SLAVF Major General JDCG Jayasinghe KSV KSP. Beloved son, Dinul and daughter, Dilsha of Major General JMUD Jayasinghe also attended the event. The glimpse of honorable participants with their ladies coloured the wonderful evening by creating joyful memories which last forever.
By addressing the distinguished gathering Deputy Commandant reminisced his reckonable serving over 35 years of the Sri Lanka Army. During his tenure in the office of Commandant, SLAVF he contributed for the expansion and raising of the Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps (SLAPC) and Sri Lanka Rifle Corps (SLRC) and the above phenomenon placed a landmark in the Volunteer Force. Especially, his directions and guidance to achieve the expected objectives as well as to rise as a proud force had been immensely instrumental.
Dignifying the occasion, at the invitation of Deputy Commandant, Major General Jayasinghe addressed the gathering and remarked his complimentary note for arranging an elegant farewell on behalf of him and brought all the very best for the future endeavors of the Volunteer Force.
Special gifts as a gesture of goodwill were presented to Commandant and the lady Mrs Deepthi Champika and he placed his signature on the Visitor’s Book leaving an indelible chapter in the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer.
