THE VOLUNTEER FORCE PAYS ITS TRIBUTES FOR THE NEWLY PROMOTED MAJOR GENERAL WGP SISIRA KUMARA RSP

Brigadier WGP Sisira Kumara RSP adorned with rank insignia amidst the blessings of Lieutenant General HLVM Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army upon elevation to the rank of Major General in the Volunteer Force of the Sri Lanka Army.

Major General WGP Sisira Kumara who is a distinguished military stance in the Volunteer Force groomed by the 9 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Light Infantry. The senior officer enlisted in the Sri Lanka Army on 07.01.1988 under the Volunteer Intake 08.Upon successful completion of the basic military training in the Sri Lanka Military Academy, Diyatalawa, he was commissioned in the rank of Second Lieutenant on 17.06.1988, and was posted to the 5 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Light Infantry.

The senior officer has counted nearly 36 of active service in the Sri Lanka Army, and honoured with Rana Sura Padakkama (RSP) in recognition of his bravery and eminent service on the battlefield. In the course of his long years military service he has held a number of significant command, staff and instructional appointments.
