THE VOLUNTEER FORCE OBSERVES RELIGIOUS CEREMONIES ON POSON POYA DAY

The atmosphere of the Sri Maha Bodhirajaramaya temple in Panagoda is filled with serene hues of ‘Seela Samadi’ Programmes organized by the Sri Lanka Army Buddhist Association in collaboration with military regiments and various institutions on every Poya Day under the directions of the Commander of the Army.

On account of the Poson Festival of the year, the ‘Seela Samadi’ Programme was placed in the hands of Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force and the Sri Lanka National Guard , and it was organized on 10 June 2025 (Poson Poya day ) under the guidance of Major General D K S K Dolage USP nps psc, the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force.

A large number of devotees participated in the day’s agenda, consisted of bodhi pooja, meditation practices, observances, and recital of ‘Pirith Sutta’.The Seela Programme included with the sermons, delivered by Venerable Athungama DharmajeewaThero, Venerable Kukulpane Sudassi Thero, Walasmulla Jinarathana Thero,Venerable Vajirabudhdha Thero, Dodampe SaddhawimalaThero and Dodamkumbure Sumanajothi Thero. The meditation programme was conducted by Venerable Iddamalgoda Vajiragnana Thero.

The programme invoked merits on fallen war heroes and blessings on disabled soldiers, serving Army personnel, civil staffers and all family members, and the country at large.

The programme was attended by Major General B M R J Bandara, the Deputy Commandant, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force.
