VOLUNTEER FORCE HANDS HELPING RENOVATE CHURCH

Coincide with the Christmas celebration, a simple ceremony of handing over the renovated church was held with the participation of Major General K V N P Premaratne RSP USP nps psc, Commandant –SLAVF on 18 December 2025.

Troops of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force dedicated their efforts to renovation of St. Mary's Church in Avissawella. Accordingly, troops was tasked for painting , fixing a water tank and laying the pipeline of the church in response to the request made by the parish priest reverend father Tiran Perera. This commendable initiative took place over the days from 27 November 2025 to date with the directions of the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force.

During the address, the Commandant-SLAVF stated that the Sri Lanka Army anticipates to hands helping for religious community works in future as well.

On behalf of the catholic community, reverend father Tiran Perera extended his gratitude to the Volunteer Force for assistance fulfilled by the troops.

Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks, and a large number of devotees participated in the event.
