VOLUNTEER FORCE BIDS FAREWELL TO THE COMMANDANT MAJOR GENERAL RUWAN WANIGASOORIYA

Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya VSV USP ndu USACGSC relinquished the appointment of Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) today (25 October). The formalities observed at the Headquarters premises in keeping with military traditions commenced with the reviewing of the Guard Turn Out. The Senior Officer was received by Brigadier Administration of the SLAVF Brigadier J D C G Jayasinghe and Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel S A Y Perera SLNG on his arrival to the camp premises.

With the weighing touch of sensible regret of falling apart of one of the warriors from clasping of its family “Rendezvous” ground got prepared to wave the salutation in respect of Commandant Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya. The Senior Officer was received by Principal Staff Officer S R B Aluvihare RWP RSP ndu psc and an elegant Guard of Honour was accorded by the troops of the Sri Lanka National Guard with all its honours at the “Rendezvous” Ground of the HQ SLAVF, Seethawaka.

The Senior Officer pronounced of how Volunteer Force took precedence as the foremost establishment where the country seeks its requirements. Further, Commandant highlighted on the safeguarding of this prestigious establishment and the devotion to one’s duties and responsibilities was highly emphasized.

He was grateful to all ranks, members and civil staff for the support extended to him during his tenure and in retrospect of soldiers and officers who served to the organization. Also, extending his heartiest condolence he recalled the memories of fallen war heroes.

The Outgoing Commandant was honoured with a memento in appreciation of his illustrious service to the Volunteer Force.

The day’s proceedings reached the culmination with the departure of Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya amidst farewell notes of Officers and Other Ranks.
