VERSATILITY THAT WIDENS THE SMOOTH MILITARY EMPLOYABILITY THROUGH TRAINING

Assurance of versatility of a military employability by ways of perpetual training is a primary drive that streamlines the administrative function of the Volunteer Force. In meeting with yet another training programme spanned for two days was successfully concluded under the auspicious of Major General D K S K DolageUSP nps psc, the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) on 08 April 2025 at the Headquarters SLAVF.

The first session of the workshop (07.04.2025) was inaugurated with the gracious presence of the Commandant SLAVF. The day’s itinerary commenced with a documentary on the history of the Volunteer Force. Pertinent concerns with respect to administrative and training aspects that reinforce the smooth command and control of the intended audience were comprehensively spotlighted during the workshop. In pursuing a fruitful integration that addressed both pressing and contemporary emerging issues, a session was aided with an awareness on legal matters and other relevant legislative considerations.

The second session of the workshop (08.04.2025) was unfolded with an interactive session that dealt with subject specific contents.

The sessions during the days were resourced by Brigadier B J Lekamge RSP KSP - Brigadier Administration, Colonel B C K Ferdinandez USP - Colonel Legal and Colonel T S B R Fernando - the Colonel Training of the Volunteer Force. A special homage is paid for Brigadier HA Keerthinatha RSP KSP psc for his coordination whilst being a resource person throughout the workshop.

In a thought-provoking concluding key note, the Commandant SLAVF affirmed objectives and future avenues that are anticipated from the scheduled workshop to the participants.

In recognition of commitment, participation and active engagement, participants were awarded with certificates by the Commandant SLAVF marking the culmination of an insightful and enriching workshop. The certificate awarding ceremony was attended by Brigadier B M R J Bandara – the Deputy Commandant (Overlooking), Brigadier A M C Abeykoon RWP RSP USP ndc – the Principal Staff Officer, Senior Officers and Officers of the Volunteer Force.

The Commandant SLAVF highly acknowledged the presence and the effort that have been made by the participants and the General Staff Branch and the staff of the Headquarters, SLAVF for the success of this workshop extending his commendation to carry forward the spirit of learning and excellence.
