SRI LANKA ARMY VOLUNTEER FORCE PROPITIOUSLY COMMENCES WORK IN THE DAWNED NEW YEAR

Heralding the dawn of the New Year 2021, the Headquarters of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force initiated the work of the first working day on 01 January 2021 having accomplished the customary military formalities under the auspices of Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force.

Having hoisted the National Flag by Commandant Major General J M U D Jayasinghe and the Flag of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force by Deputy Commandant Major General J D C G Jayasinghe KSV KSP, the National Anthem and the Army Song were recited as the flags were on the full swing. Just after two minutes silence being observed in memory of the Fallen Heroes, everybody in attendance pledged their allegiance to the State by reciting the Government Servants’ Oath read by the Colonel Administration Colonel J M T N B Karunathilake who conveyed the New Year wish of the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc.

All ranks of the SLAVF attended to the customary tea and few seconds reserved to witness a special segmentation, granting of Distress Loan facility which is considered as a significant achievement of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force. Initially, Distress Loan Facility was provided only for the serving members of the Regular Force and, with the expectation of uplifting the living standard of Volunteer members as well, it was declared that serving members in the Volunteer Force also have been entitled to the Loan Facility from this year onwards. Accordingly, first applicants who had requested for the Distress Loan received their cheques by the auspices of the Commandant SLAVF.

In the meantime, several desktop computers were donated with the contribution of Colonel Logistics of HQ SLAVF Colonel Nalindra Mahawithana to the HQ SLAVF and 9 (V) SLASC and they were symbolically awarded to the Comdt SLAVF and the Commanding Officer of 9 (V) SLASC.

Addressing the audience, the Commandant extended his warm wishes and explained the need to remain prepared for the role of the army during the COVID 19 pandemic situation. Further, he stressed upon the need to maintain high standard of discipline, integrity and courage as army personnel.

All officers and other ranks serving at HQ SLAVF attended in this event and made their departure with wishful thoughts.
