The Inter Regiment Volleyball Championship which is an annual feature in the sports calendar organized by the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) was ceremonially commenced on 18 March 2024 at the Rendezvous Ground, Headquarters, SLAVF. Major General Thusitha Silva KSP - the Deputy Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) graced the event as the Chief Guest.
With the arrival of theDeputy Commandant, SLAVF to the occasion, the meet was declared open and theoath taking was taken place by the players and the Judges.
The players of the volleyball teams were introduced at the Opening Ceremony prior to begin the scheduled first matches of the day.
Twenty men’s teams and four women’s teams are contesting for this Championship which aim at promoting sportsmanship and enhancing esprit de corps among the Regiments and Battalions while producing players to the national level sports.
The Closing Ceremony of the Volleyball Championships will be held at the Sri Lanka Army Indoor Stadium, Panagoda on 22 March 2024, and the competitors will be competing from 18 – 21 March 2024 at the at the Rendezvous Ground, Headquarters, SLAVF.
The occasion was attended Brigadier Mahen Salwatura RWP RSP USP - Principal Staff Officer, Brigadier W G P Sisira Kumara RSP - Inspector of Training, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force.
