SRI LANKA ARMY VOLUNTEER FORCE INTER REGIMENT VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIP – 2024

Fulfilling the expectations of the much enthusiastic and aspiring players in the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force successfully concluded the finals of the“Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force Inter Regiment Volleyball Championship – 2024” under the auspices of Major General MK Jayawardena RSP VSV USP ndu–the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) at the Sri Lanka Army Indoor Stadium, Panagoda on 22 March 2024.

This event serves as a launch pad to national and international recognition for sportsmen, and acts as a platform of recognizing skills for team games that crowns their sportsmanship. The yield of this event transcends beyond the Volunteer Force and reaches out to the Sri Lanka Army and the nation.

Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force Inter Regiment Volleyball Championship – 2024 commenced on 18 with the gracious presence of Major General Thusitha Silva KSP - the Deputy Commandant of the SLAVF, and the teams represented volunteer regiments were competing for the supremacy during 18 – 21 March 2024 at the Rendezvous Ground, Headquarters, SLAVF.

The Chief Guest of the closing ceremony was warmly welcomed by the Deputy Commandant SLAVF and ushered to the Stadium. The beginning was marked with the oath taking by the sportsmen and the judges of the occasion. With the introduction of the teams of men and women,the competition for the Inter Regiment Volleyball Championship was set in motion between the teams.

The players of the teams at rivalry in spiringly fought to grab the victory. Bringing much ecstasy to the spectators, 2 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps with assuring display of performances secured the championship in the women’s category leaving the Runner-up to Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps.

In the super league, Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment advanced to the finals beating Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment.

A division championship was won by the Sri Lanka Army Service Corps and the Sri Lanka Engineers secured the Runner-up slot.

The awarding ceremony was presided by the Commandant –SLAVF,S W M Fernando WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc – the Commander Security Forces Headquarters (West), the Deputy Commandant – SLAVF and Brigadier W G P Sisira Kumara RSP - Inspector of Training, SLAVF, and the achievers were presented with trophies and certificates.

Marking the winding up of another prospective schedule in the year plan of the Volunteer Force, the gratification was awarded for the successful and active organization with a vote of thank delivered by the Inspector of Training – SLAVF.

Best Defender - Private Kumarasinghe AT of Sri Lanka Light Infantry

Best Attacker - Private Sama Kumara KMS of Sri Lanka Light Infantry

Best Player - Corporal Madhushan SI of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment
