SRI LANKA ARMY VOLUNTEER FORCE INDEPENDENCE VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIP – 2024

The Volunteer Force staged “Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force Independence Volleyball Championship – 2024” under the auspices of Major General MK Jayawardena RSP VSV USP ndu - Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, at the Rendezvous Grounds, Headquarters Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force on 31 January 2024.

This event serves as a launch pad to national and international recognition for sportsmen, and acts as a platform of recognizing skills for team games that crowns their sportsmanship. The yield of this event transcends beyond the Volunteer Force and reaches out to the Sri Lanka Army and the nation.

The volleyball teams, inclusive of civil sports clubs played in the tournament on 30 and 31 January. Finally, players of the Sports Club, Kaduwela, Bomiriya won the Championship of Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force Independence Volleyball Championship – 2024 defeating Samagitharu Sports Club, Kadugoda.

The finals of the tournament were witnessed by Major General Thusitha Silva KSP- Deputy Commandant, Brigadier Mahen Salwatura RWP RSP USP - Principal Staff Officer, Brigadier W G P Sisira Kumara RSP - Inspector of Training, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force.

In particular, Mrs. Pavithra Gamage - Assistant Divisional Secretary, Seethawaka Divisional Secretariat, Dr. RP Gonalgoda - Divisional Medical Officer, Divisional Hospital, Kosgama, Mr Mangala Karathota – Royal Fernwood Porcelain Ltd and Mr. GHA Isuranka - Assistant Superintendent, Salawa Estate attended the event as the guests of honour.

Winners, runners-up and all players received their relevant trophies, cash awards and certificates of participation from the Chief Guest in the event.
