SLAVF CULMINATES PHASE 2 OF THE WORKSHOP ON 'SKILLS DEVELOPMENT & INNOVATIONS'

Workshop on ‘Skills Development & Innovations’- Phase 2, held at the Headquarters, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) culminated on 25th October as planned, followed by its certificate awarding ceremony. The Course began on 20 September proceeded with 31 Other Ranks belonging to diverse regiments in the Army.

In line with the magnanimous conceptual and instructions of Major General D G S SENARATH YAPA RWP RSP ndu Commandant Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, Skills Development and Innovations Workshop got underway with the aim of realizing the organizational objectives, framed for the years to come.

The workshop serves as an inspirational strive for innovations through recycling and the required knowledge on skills development is expected at the termination of the course period. The course of study lasted for 21 days with practical sessions that would cover streams of innovation through Team Work, Waste Management, Spiritual Meditation, Welding, Painting, and Carpentry.

The Commandant SLAVF witnessed as the Chief Guest of the closing remarks of the workshop and following the brief video clip which includes the special events of the workshop, Major General Thusitha Silva KSP, Deputy Commandant, SLAVF awarded certificates as the first segment. Subsequently, the Commandant awarded the certificates as the second segment of the certificate awarding ceremony held at Multifunctional Hall, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force.

During the closing remarks, the Commandant SLAVF stated that the Army anticipates producing cognitive bias qualified soldiers to accomplish the future requirements while managing limited resources economically through the recycling in this economic crisis of mass proportions of the country. Further, he earnestly requested to modify the mindset and perceive the world differently. Afterwards, the recipients of the certificates showcased the instruments which were made by them such as metal bed, lectern, wheel barrows, metal television stand, stove, air compressor, dressing table, lamp sheds, dustbin and a wooden chair.

Later, as the final segment of the session, Commandant together with all the senior officers and the students who successfully completed the workshop posed for a group photograph. Principal Staff Officer, Inspector of Training, Brigadier Administration, Brigadier Logistics, Colonel Training and Colonel Engineering, Officers, and Other Ranks of the SLAVF were present the awarding ceremony.
