Accomplishing the long felt requirement of the Volunteer Force of the Sri Lanka Army, the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, Major General C D Weerasuriya RWP RSP ndu declared open the Signal Communication Centre which would be affiliated as a prominent service centre soon after the few months of laying the cornerstone for its erection, on 3 February 2022.
Unveiling the plaque of the Signal Communication Centre and cutting the ceremonial ribbon were performed by the Commandant amidst chanting of 'Seth Pirith' at the auspicious time.
Following the marking of opening the Signal Communication Centre ceremonially, the Commandant officially inaugurated its functioning lighting the oil lamp and extended his good wishes for an advanced, efficient and success fulfilment of expected undertaking. Further, the Senior Officer paid a visit within the premises, and a comprehensive briefing on its stance and operational procedure was elucidated by the Signal Officer.
The establishment of the Signal Communication Centre serves the purpose of reinforcing the communication within and outer the organization in every stream. Moreover, this will facilitate as a dispatch room for the mails of the Volunteer Force, and provide the necessity of a store for the essential signal equipment of the camp premises which required intensive protection and care.
A gathering of nominated Senior Officers and Officers who were nominated for the event presented, and the programme of the day was underway with strict adherence to the health directives issued for COVID – 19 pandemic of the country.
