RIFLE CORPS AND PIONEER CORPS RECEIVE IDENTIFICATION BADGES

Major General W G P Sisira Kumara RSP, the Deputy Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force graced as the Chief Guest of the new badges introducing ceremony at Lecture Hall, 1 Sri Lanka Rifle Corps.

Upon the arrival, the Deputy Commandant SLAVF was awarded with customary formalities of a salutation of Guard Turnout at main entrance by the troops of 1 SLRC. Subsequently, he planted a sapling to mark his visit at camp premises and placed a complimentary note of appreciation in the Visitors’ Book at the Coordination Office of SLRC and SLAPC. Later on, he attended for the day’s most vital event, awarding of identification badges for Sri Lanka Rifle Corps and Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps at 1 SLRC. The Deputy Commandant was warmly welcomed there by the Commanding Officer of 1 Sri Lanka Rifle Corps during the welcome speech.

Afterwards, a concise video clip on the history of SLRC and SLAPC displayed on the screen and the Coordinating Officer of SLRC and SLAPC delivered an introductory speech on identification badges of corps.

Later on, Major General W G P Sisira Kumara RSP took the opportunity to convey his warm regards to both corps on receiving identification badges with the approval of Directorate of Personnel Administration. The Senior Officer specifically mentioned the importance of maintaining discipline among troops in order to improve the standard of the Army. He further conveyed his gratitude on successful integration of duties and responsibilities by both Corps at present. Further, during his troopaddress,the Deputy Commandantextended his gratitude to all ranks for warm reception being accorded to him on the arrival.

Colonel J K N S Jayasingha, Coordinating Officer of SLRC and Lt Col K KC Nilantha, Staff Officer 1 of SLAPC have the initial privileges of formally adorning with badges from the Deputy Commandant SLAVF. In additionally, another twenty officers belong to both corps adorned with new badges ceremonially.

As the last segment of the event, a memento was presented to the Deputy Commandant SLAVF as a token of appreciation.

Brigadier Coordinating Officer (Central), Brigadier SMMMNK Mahanthe KSP, Colonel Coordinating Officer-11 Division, Colonel MGGVR Gamage, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of both corps attended for the ceremony.
