OFFICIAL VISIT OF THE DEPUTY COMMANDANT TO THE 1st BATTALION OF SRI LANKA ARMY PIONEER CORPS

Major General Thusitha Silva KSP – the Deputy Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force paid an official visit to the 1st Battalion of Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps (SLAPC) on 21 March 2024.

The Senior Officer was accorded a traditional Guard Turnout by the troops of SLAPC at the main entrance, and he was warmly welcomed by the Commanding Officers of 1 and 2 of SLAPC along with the presence of the Coordinating Officer of SLAPC and SLRC (Sri Lanka Rifle Corps)and the Colonel Coordinating Officer of 61 Infantry Division.

Afterwards the troops of both 1 SLAPC and a cross section of 2 SLAPC were addressed by the Senior Officer at the Conference Hall where he spelled out the procedural actions taken in developing the battalions while disseminating clear directives. The Deputy Commandant also extended his views on moving as a collective team towards the progress of the units and conveyed his gratitude on successful amalgamation of duties and responsibilities up to now.Mainly, the Deputy Commandant thanked all the serving men of both the units on their commitment and loyalty in placing the Battalions in higher standards.

The visit was lined up with scheduled formalities that unfolded with planting of a sapling in the camp premises and other arrangements in honour of his visits. The departure of the official visit was manifested by placing a complimentary note of appreciation in the Visitors’ Book at the Office of the Commanding Officer - 1 SLAPC.
