NEWLY PROMOTED MAJOR GENERAL B M R J BANDARA RECEIVES THE SYMBOL OF AUTHORITY

Major General B M R J Bandara who was recently promoted to a two-star General paid a courtesy call on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf - ndu psc IG, on 16th April 2025 at the Army Headquarters.

Major General Janith Bandara adorned with rank insignia upon elevation to the rank of Major General with effect from 08 October 2024, and he has been appointed as the Deputy Commandant which is the highest eminence attainable by a Volunteer Officer in the Sri Lanka Army with effect from 11 April 2025.

During the cordial interaction, the Commander of the Army presented the Senior Officer with a General's sword, symbolizing his new authority and status and extended his heartfelt congratulations on his significant career achievement.

Major General Janith Bandara is a distinguished military stance in the Volunteer Force who groomed by the 2 Battalion (Volunteer) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment and the Special Forces (SF), which is an elite force of deterrence for the defence of the nation. The senior officer enlisted in the Volunteer Force of the Sri Lanka Army on 25 January 1990 under the Volunteer Intake 12 and he has counted above 35 years of military service. Throughout his extensive years of military service, the senior officer's assignments in command, staff, and instructional roles in both operational and non-operational capacities have been meticulously exemplified, demonstrating his dedication, integrity, and loyalty in upholding the core values of the Sri Lanka Army.
