MAJOR GENERAL WGP SISIRA KUMARA RSP SALUTED BY THE MOTHER UNIT, THE SRI LANKA LIGHT INFANTRY

Major General WGP Sisira Kumara RSP, an illustrious military officer who has counted above 36 years of service to the Volunteer Force of the Sri Lanka Army was honoured by the mother unit, the Sri Lanka Light Infantry on 06 October 2024 at the Regimental Centre, Sri Lanka Light Infantry.

The farewell proceedings presided with military formalities were unfolded, and accordingly a Guard Turnout was accorded to Major General Priyantha Sisira Kumara on his arrival to the camp premises. In the gesture of cherished memories, the senior officer paid his tribute by laying a wreath on the memorial of war heroes who sacrificed their innumerable lives to safeguard the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.

Afterward, a spectacular military Guard of Honour was reviewed by the troops of Sri Lanka Light Infantry in honour of his years of service as an infantryman to the Sri Lanka Army.

The senior officer attended an All Ranks Tea at the Caporals’ Club, Regimental Center, and there he had a cordial interactive session with the gathering.

The officers and other ranks saluted him in a street-line farewell as he moved out of the Regimental Centre Premises.
