MAJOR GENERAL W G P SISIRA KUMARA RSP TAKES OVER THE DUTIES AS THE DEPUTY COMMANDANT OF THE SRI LANKA ARMY VOLUNTEER FORCE

Major General WGP Sisira Kumara RSP assumed duties in the Office on 04 Tuesday, 2024 as the Deputy Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force after the official formalities being accomplished in military traditions at the Volunteer Force Headquarters premises (SLAVF HQ), Kosgama.

The day’s proceedings scheduled in connection with the commencement of the Office by the arrival of the Senior Officer to the venue. He was warmly received by Brigadier MM Salwathura RWP RSP USP - the Principal Staff Officer, Brigadier BMJR Bandara - Brigadier Administration, Brigadier HA Keerthinatha RSP KSP psc - the Centre Commandant of Sri Lanka National Guard and Colonel HMA Pushpakumara - the Commanding Officer of the SLAVF HQ Battalion.

After reviewing the Guard Turnout accorded by the troops of Sri Lanka National Guard, Major General WGP Sisira Kumara RSP who counts more than 36 years of service to the nation was awarded with a Guard of Honour at the SLVAF Parade Square which was witnessed by a large gathering of Senior Officers including Brigadier Coordinating Officers, Director Administration University Hospital - KDU, Colonel Coordinating Officers, Commanding Officers of the Volunteer Battalions and the Officers & Other Ranks of the Volunteer Force Headquarters.

The Senior Officer placed his signature on an official document at the auspicious time, symbolizing the formal acceptance of the office on his new appointment as the 33 ^rd Deputy Commandant of SLAVF amidst the blessings of Maha Sanga.

The Deputy Commandant planted a sapling to signify his inauguration of the Office. Subsequently, the Senior Officer addressed the troops in which he highlighted the significance of discipline and pledged to upgrade the standards of the accommodations of both the Officers and Other Ranks during his tenure. The Senior Officer was accorded to an all rank tea attended by all invitee Officers and the serving members of the Headquarters.

A large gathering of Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks along with the staff of HQ SLAVF attended the event and conveyed their heartfelt congratulations to the newly appointed Deputy Commandant.
