MAJOR GENERAL U D WIJESEKERA ASSUMES DUTIES AS THE COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT OF THE SRI LANKA SINHA REGIMENT

Major General U D Wijesekera RWP RSP USP rcds psc took over duties and responsibilities as the 17 ^th successor in the office of the Colonel of the Regiment of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) on Tuesday (12 December) amidst religious blessings and customary military formalities accorded.

Upon arrival, the newly appointed Colonel of the Regiment was warmly welcomed by the Deputy Centre Commandant at the main entrance. Symbolizing the reception of duties, Major General U D Wijesekera left his signature on an official document in the midst of chanting of Seth Pirith at the new office. Following the acceptance of duties, the senior officer was received by the Centre Commandant and all the invitees, and was saluted in a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour. Afterwards, the incumbent Colonel of the Regiment laid a flower wreath at the War Heroes’ monument.

Adding a sensible connotation for bearing precise undertakings as the Colonel of the Regiment to the family of Sinha, the senior officer planted a sapling in the camp premises, and posed for a group photograph along with the gathering of officers leaving a memory of a distinctive occasion where it would undoubtedly express an inspirational command and leadership.

In addition, Major General U D Wijesekera, an illustrious military officer who possesses wealth of above 35 years of distinguished service, has been serving as the 53 ^rd successor in the office of the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) with effect from 09 October 2023.
