MAJOR GENERAL THUSITHA SILVA KSP BIDS FAREWELL TO VOLUNTEER FORCE

Major General Thusitha Silva KSP, the 32 nd successor in the office of the Deputy Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) relinquished his duties and responsibilities amidst formal military formalities accorded in honour of above 34 years of active service to the establishment at the parade ground of the Headquarters on 24 April 2024.

Major General Thusitha Silva was received by the Principal Staff Officer, Brigadier Administration, Coordinating Officer –Sri Lanka Rifle Corps and Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps and the Commanding Officer of Headquarters Battalion, of Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force. Subsequently, the formalities were observed at the Headquarters premises in keeping with military traditions commenced with the reviewing of the Guard Turnout. The outgoing Commandant paid his tribute by laying a flower wreath on the memorial of Captain Saliya Aladeniya who symbolizes the memory of fallen war heroes.

Brigadier WGP Sisira Kumara RSP - Inspector of Training received the outgoing Deputy Commandant and ushered him to the saluting dais to receive the Guard of Honour accorded by the troops of the Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps.

The formal formalities of handing over duties and responsibilities were accomplished at the office of the Deputy Commandant, and the senior officer unveiled his portrait that spells out a remarkable tenure of the Deputy Commandant SLAVF.

Addressing the troops of the Volunteer Force, the outgoing senior officerextended his gratitude and appreciation for the loyalty, commitment and successful integration in fulfilling duties and responsibilities throughout his tenure of the Deputy Commandant, SLAVF.

The senior officer had a cordial interaction with the gathering,and mementoes were presented in appreciation of his illustrious service to the Volunteer Force.

The day’s proceedings reached the culmination with the departure of Major General Thusitha Silva from the office of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force amidst good-bye cheers of officers and other ranks who street lined.

The Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force hosted a formal farewell dinner in honour of the outgoing Deputy Commandant at the Officers’ Mess, Regimental Centre Sri Lanka Corps of Engineers.

A large gathering of officers who attended the occasion included senior officers and officers of the Headquarters in the Volunteer Force and the other military establishments of the Sri Lanka Army.
