MAJOR GENERAL S N SAMARAWICKRAMA KSP RELINQUISHES THE DUTIES

Following a remarkable tenure in the office as the Deputy Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, Major General S N Samarawickrama relinquished the duties on 10 May 2022.

Major General Nihal Samarawickrama deserves the salutation of the nation for his commendable military service over 35 years. He could mark the honour and the pride of the elite Gemunu Watch, his mother unit reaching to a remarkable destination of his military career which an officer rarely receives. He is a professionally sound stance that indeed foreshadows an exemplified predecessor of a great lineage of an honoured establishment.

The Senior Officer was accorded a formal tea party arranged by All Officers,and he shared a moment filled with gratitude and pleasure, for attending the occasion upon his farewell to the entire organization. The Senior Officer was presented a special gift as a gesture of goodwill in memory of his tenure in the Headquarters of the Volunteer Force, and he posed for a photograph with the staff.

Addressing the gathering the senior officer traced on the significance of promising to the liabilities vested on every member, for the betterment of this prestigious establishment and conveyed his compliments for future endeavours.

The outgoing Senior Officer placed his signature on the Visitor’s Book leaving an indelible chapter as the 30th Deputy Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force.

The proceedings at the Headquarters premises reached the culmination with the departure of Major General S Nihal Samarawickrama from the office of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force amidst good-bye cheers of the Officers and Other Ranks who street lined on both sides of the road leading to the Main Gate.

Officers and All Ranks of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force wish him a happy retirement.
