MAJOR GENERAL K N S KOTUWEGODA ndc IG TAKES OVER THE COMMAND OF THE SRI LANKA ARMY VOLUNTEER FORCE

Major General K N S Kotuwegoda ndc IG assumed duties on 28 February 2021 as the 45th Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force after a formal military customs being accomplished in keeping with military traditions at the Volunteer Force Headquarters Premises at Seethawaka.

The day’s proceedings scheduled in connection with the commencement of the Office as Commandant began on his arrival to the venue. He was warmly received by Inspector of Training, Brigadier S N Samarawickrama KSP of the HQ SLAVF. After reviewing the Guard Turnout, the Guard of Honour was accorded in his honour by the troops of the 2nd Battalion of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry at the “Rendezvous” Ground of the HQ SLAVF. Gathering of the family members of Commandant, Major General K N S Kotuwegoda upon the acceptance of his duties added glamour and commendable phenomenon to the event and all presented to witness the Guard of Honour presented to Commandant. He was ushered to the saluting dais by Deputy Commandant, Major General J D C G Jayasinghe KSV KSP of the HQ SLAVF

Invoking the blessings of the maha sangha, religious rites and rituals were accomplished and amidst the blessings of Seth Pirith, Major General Sampath Kotuwegoda placed his signature on an official document, symbolizing the formal acceptance of the Office on his new appointment as Commandant of the Volunteer Force at the auspicious time.

After the formal acceptance of the office the new Commandant addressing the troops, stressed upon of moving ahead as an organization with discipline, skills and professionalism. Further, he emphasized on the Sri Lanka Army Way Forward Strategy 2020-2025, incepted by the present Commander of the Army and directed upon the accountability towards one’s duty as a responsible member for the upliftment of the Volunteer Force.
