MAJOR GENERAL J M U D JAYASINGHE TAKES OVER DUTIES AS COMMANDANT OF THE SRI LANKA ARMY VOLUNTEER FORCE

Major General J M U D Jayasinghe who is a well-known Senior Officer from the Gajaba Regiment of the Sri Lanka Army assumed duties on 27 October 2020 as Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force amidst military formalities accomplished at the Volunteer Force Headquarters premises at Kosgama.

The day’s proceedings in connection with the assumption of duties as Commandant began with reviewing of the Guard Turnout accorded in his honour by the troops of the Sri Lanka National Guard and the Senior Officer was received by Inspector of Training Brigadier K N Perera and Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel S A Y Perera SLNG on his arrival to the camp premises.

An elegant Guard of Hounour was accorded with all its honours at the “Rendezvous” Ground of HQ SLAVF, Seethawaka and the Senior Officer was received by Principal Staff Officer, Brigadier S R B Aluvihare RWP RSP ndu psc and Brigadier Administration, SLAVF Brigadier J D C G Jayasinghe.

Amidst invoking of the blessings of religious rituals, the Senior Officer placed his signature on an official document, symbolizing the formal acceptance of his new appointment at the auspicious time. Marking his assumption of duties as Commandant, SLAVF the Senior Officer planted a tree sapling to signify his inauguration of the office.

Subsequently, the Senior Officer was accorded to a tea attended by all ranks and during the session he had a cordial interaction with everyone.

All Officers of the Headquarters attended the occasion to congratulate on his new appointment.

The function was organized following the health directives issued for COVID 19 .
