MAJOR GENERAL C D WEERASURIYA RWP RSP ndu PAYS VISIT TO SRI LANKA ARMY VOLUNTEER FORCE TRAINING SCHOOL

Major General C D Weerasuriya RWP RSP ndu, the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) made a formal visit to the Volunteer Force Training School (VFTS), Diyatalawa on the invitation of Colonel H A Keerthinatha RSP KSP psc, the Commandant, VFTS on 21 & 22 February 2021.

The Commandant, SLAVF was accorded a Guard Turnout on his arrival to the camp premises, and the Senior Officer was warmly received by the Commandant, VFTS.

In accord with the scheduled programme, the Commandant, SLAVF participated in the closing ceremony of “Direct Enlisted Professional Officer Cadets Course No- 11” as the Chief Guest. Upon successful termination of the stipulated course module, testimonials were awarded for the professional officer cadets by the Commandant of the Volunteer Force.

The Senior Officer expressing the gratitude for the untiring effort of the Commandant of the Training School and his staff, made the closing remarks on citing the advanced phenomenon of being a member of defenders of this land that would rarely receive during the course of one’s life. He emphasized on the role and tasks of the cadet officers enlisted as professionals that would indeed enhance the structural reinforcement of the organization. The course designed, basically objected in acclimatizing individuals who differed in stance of personalities and it is expected the optimum contribution of their alignment in respective streams of professions on behalf of the Sri Lanka Army and the nation.

Unfolding the “Sri Lanka Army Way Forward Strategy 2020-2025”, the Senior Officer exclaimed its vision on the accountability vested upon the Volunteer Force of creating a Professionalized Army in future.

It is commendable that the Training School of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force is being resourced and upgraded with conducive environment which reinforces qualitative training at every phases of command. The Commandant SLAVF paid visit to inspect the infrastructure development and progress of existing reforms of the training school following the closing of the ceremony.

As well, the senior officer inspected the Main Cook House, Corporals’ Club, Other Ranks Mess, Warrant Officers’ and Sergeants’ Mess, Training Area and Gymnasium and reviewed the future constructions and current projects.

The event was attended by Major General SN Samarawickrama KSP, the Deputy Commandant- SLAVF, Principal Staff Officer-HQ SLAVF, Senior Officers and Officers nominated.

The programme of the day was underway with strict adherence to the health directives issued for COVID – 19 pandemic of the country.
