Major General B M R J Bandara, the Deputy Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, paid an official visit to the Sri Lanka Rifle Corps /Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps Coordinating Center (SLRC/SLAPC Coordinating Center ) and 1 Sri Lanka Rifle Corps (1 SLRC) on 20 June 2025.
The visit was scheduled with the objective of enhancing and streamlining the administrative and operational functions of the respective establishments.
On arrival, the Deputy Commandant was accorded with a Guard Turnout, and he was warmly received by Lieutenant Colonel W M G L P Weerakoon, the Commanding Officer of the 1 SLRC.
Following the initial formalities, in a session dedicated for a constructive forum for a briefing, the Commanding Officer of the 1 SLRC delivered a detailed apprise on the current undertakings of the corps enabling the authority and its under command hierarchy for arriving solutions to their concerns.
Heading to the core feature of the day’s itinerary, the Deputy Commandant addressed the troops emphasizing the urgent need of combat discipline for preventing drug addiction, and unethical behavior that tarnish the Army’s reputation. Further, he stressed the importance of genuine engagement in functioning process of the establishment with military excellence intensively upholding the Army’s traditions with loyalty, integrity, commitments and professionalism. A cross section of the 5th (Volunteer) Battalion of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry, 2nd (Volunteer) Battalion of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and the Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps attended the address of the Deputy Commandant.
To mark the visit, Major General Janith Bandara left a note of appreciation in the visitors’ book. The visit was attended by Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks representing the Headquarters SLAVF, SLRC/SLAPC Coordinating Center and 1 SLRC
