KATINA POOJA THAT SHOWERS BLISS OF NIBBHANA AND BLESSINGS

Coincide with the Katina Ceremony which is being held at the Kiri Vehera, Kataragama under the patronage of Venerable Millawe Mahinda Thero, the Chief Incumbent of Mundigala Sumanagiri Arannya, Miriswatta, Puwakpitiya, Katina Cheevaraya and Sugatha Cheewaraya woven carefully with utmost holy faith and devotion towards the Lord Buddha following the religious customs and rituals were brought to the Headquarters of the Volunteer Force bequeathing on the heads of the devotees at the invitation of the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force on 3 November 2022 during the dusk hours.

Bringing the Katina Wastra from Kiri Vehera which is an ancient stupa situated in Kataragama to the Headquarters of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force took place ceremoniously in a colorful procession with the participation of the members in the Headquarters, SLAVF.

At the Headquarters premises, the most honored Katina Cheevaraya and Sugatha Cheevaraya were adored with customary arranged offerings and Atapirikaraand a dhamma sermon conducted bestowing merits on every member of the Volunteer Force including those killed in action and injured at the battle years ago.

In the wake of accomplishing the observances in honour of the Lord Buddha, the most sacred Katina Cheevaraya and Sugatha Cheewaraya were taken to the historical Kiri Vehera, Kataragama following the offerings at the camp premises.

The religious ceremony was attended by all the Ranks of the Headquarters with utmost ecstasy for observing Triple Gems.
