The Officers’ Mess which serves both practical and ceremonial purposes for officers in the Headquarters of the Volunteer Force was declared open by Major General D K S K Dolage USP nps psc – the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) on 5 June 2025.
A military establishment is abundant with both physical structures and long standing traditions, and an Officers’ Mess stands as a centerpiece-symbolizing honor, comradeship, and enduring social fabric military life. In this spirit, it was completely refurbished thoughtfully aligning with the ceremonial customs and military heritage ‘of the Volunteer Force.
This endeavor was successfully accomplished with the good gracious of the Commandant SLAVF and constant encouragement of Major General B M R J Bandara – the Deputy Commandant SLAVF along with highly committed work force assistance of the Corps of Engineer Services.
The inauguration ceremony took place at the auspicious time with the religious rituals conducted by Maha Sanga amidst a sacred atmosphere that symbolizes the invocation of blessings.
The Commandant, SLAVF conducted a cordial inspection of the newly renovated messing facilities. The Occasion was attended by Major General A M C Abeykoon RWP RSP USP ndc - the Principal Staff Officer SLAVF , Senior Officers and Officers of the Headquarters SLAVF.
