HQ SLAVF HAILS NOTEWORTHY ROLES OF RETIRING NCC OFFICERS

A splendid felicitation ceremony was organized in honour of long years of active service of forty four Officers who absorbed in the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force from the National Cadet Corps. The retiring Officers have rendered notable service towards the Army with the motto of “ Never be Unprepared ” and the felicitation ceremony was held under the patronage of Major General U D Wijesekera RWP RSP USP rcds psc, the Commandant Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force under the direction of Major General Thusitha Silva KSP, the Deputy Commandant SLAVF on 06 December 2023 at SLAVF premises.

In commencing the event’s agenda, the Chief Guest Major General U D Wijesekera RWP RSP USP rcds psc, the Commandant Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force was warmly received by the Deputy Commandant and the Senior Officers of the SLAVF.

Following the opening remarks, a brief presentation on the retiring Officers and entertaining dancing items presented by the troops of Directorate of Performing Arts, the main segment of the event, awarding of certificates of appreciation and mementoes launched for the retiring Officers of the National Cadet Corps by the Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force.

During closing remarks, the Commandant addressed the gathering highlighting the importance of the NCC role and praising their professional service as teachers, being rendered to the motherland during peace and war and further he stated that NCC Officers rendered yeoman services as silent contributors of the Army. Finally, he offered his best wishes to everyone receiving the appreciation on the occasion

Subsequently, a brief awareness address delivered by Colonel LWADS Wickramasinghe, Colonel Welfare of HQ SLAVF on Suwasahana and SLAVF insurance packages and he informed the gathering that the all retiring Officers currently have the opportunity to continue these packages until 80 and 65 years respectively. He eagerly requested to retain the memberships of these packages which provide an assortment of welfare benefits to all the retiring Officers.

Brigadier GS Fonseka USP psc, Director, National Cadet Corps, the Senior Officers and Officers who serve at the Headquarters SLAVF were associated with the ceremony.The formalities culminated with a formal lunch, hosted by Officers at Headquarters, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force.
