DEFEATING HUMAN TRAFFICKING THROUGH AWARENESS

The Sri Lanka Army has a moral obligation to raise awareness and educate soldiers on human trafficking since Sri Lankans, mostly former soldiers, have fallen victim to a human trafficking scam that involves sending Sri Lankans to Russia, where they are then dispatched to the frontlines in the ongoing Russian-Ukraine war. By identifying the importance of topic Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force conducted an awareness lecture to soldiers on the topic under the guidance Major General W P A D W Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu, the Commandant SLAVF.

The lecture was delivered by Lieutenant Colonel P A G A P Madiththapola GW , who is working as the Staff Officer 1 (Training) of Sri Lanka Army Volunteer at Multi- Functional Hall on 7th August 2024. During the lecture, he highlighted do not be a victim of a human trafficking as pride soldiers in the world.

The lecture on the training day conducted under the supervision of Major General W G P Sisira Kumara RSP, the Deputy Commandant SLAVF. The lecture was attended by Officers and Other Ranks of the Headquarters.
