Major General Thusitha Silva KSP- the Deputy Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force paid a courtesy visit to the 2 (Volunteer) Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI); at Kelanimulla on 26 March 2024.The Deputy Commandant was warmly received by the Commanding Officer along with the Colonel Coordinating Officer (Volunteer) of 14 Infantry Division and the Liaison Officer of Regimental Headquarters - SLLI on his arrival. The troops awarded an elegant guard turnout in honour of the arrival of the Senior Officer to the camp premises. As the next lined up formalities, the Deputy Commandant planted a sapling and posed for a group photograph.
On par with the objective of determining sense of enthusiasm and an encouragement for the troops that ensures well future incorporation of battalions, the Deputy Commandant addressed all the Officers and Other Ranks at a lecture hall where he particularized his views on moving as a team in order to uplift the harmony among all men in the unit. He further conveyed his gratitude on successful integration of duties and responsibilities at present. Not only that but also the Senior Officer extended his gratefulness on their commitments and loyalty in placing the battalion in a higher standard.The troops address was concluded by exchanging the mementoes in compliment of marking the Deputy Commandant’s visit to the battalion.
A special gathering along with a lunch was hosted by the Commanding Officer and the Staff of the battalion and the departure of the Deputy Commandant was manifested by placing complimentary notes of appreciation in the Visitors’ Book at the Commanding Officer’s Office.
