COMMANDANT OF THE SRI LANKA ARMY VOLUNTEER FORCE MAJOR GENERAL T S BANGSAJAYAH RWP RSP VSV USP ndu BIDS FAREWELL TO VOLUNTEER FORCE OF THE SRI LANKA ARMY

Major General T S Bangsajayah RWP RSP VSV USP ndu relinquished the office of the Commandant, the most honoured appointment of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force on 30 July 2020. The formalities observed at the Headquarters premises in keeping with military traditions commenced with reviewing of the Guard Turn Out presented by the troops of the Gemunu Watch and the Senior Officer was received by Principal Staff Officer Brigadier K Liyanage RWP RSP ndu at the entrance.

The Senior Officer was received by Deputy Commandant Major General K P Nugegoda RWP RSP on arrival to the new camp premises and in complying with the military formalities, was accorded an elegant parade with all its honours at the “Rendezvous” Ground.

The HQ SLAVF is being resourced with infrastructure facilities with an advancement of structural reformation under the directions of higher authorities of the HQ SLAVF. The necessity which facilitates for quality food processing of the camp premises has been catered with the recent construction of Cook House. The Record Room which was destroyed since unexpected explosion in Ammo dump of the HQ has been provided with a secure building for preserve records of the Volunteer Force. Accordingly, the newly constructed Cook House and Record Room were declared open by the Senior Officer.

Marking farewell remarks, the Senior Officer expressed his gratitude for the assistance and the cooperation extended on his behalf. Further, he was in strong believe that the initiation which have already been focused for the structural and physical development of the Volunteer Force would be reached up to the culmination with a successful volume. Also he extended his gratitude for the late Commandants whose directions were immensely contributed for creating the present situation of the Volunteer Force prominent and he reminisced fallen war heroes with the deep sense of gratitude.

The Outgoing Commandant was honoured with a memento in appreciation of his illustrious service to the Volunteer Force and in the recognition of his great services Senior Officers and Other Ranks presented souvenirs. The Senior Officer extended his gratitude along with the all ranks gathered for the occasion.

A large gathering of Officers and soldiers who attended the occasion included Senior Officers of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force.

The day’s proceedings reached the culmination with the departure of Major General Suraj Bangsajayah amidst farewell notes of Officers and Other Ranks who street lined on both sides of the road leading to the Main Gate.
