COMMANDANT OF THE SRI LANKA ARMY VOLUNTEER FORCE MAJOR GENERAL SAMPATH KOTUWEGODA ndc IG BIDS FAREWELL TO VOLUNTEER FORCE OF THE SRI LANKA ARMY

The Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force Major General K N S Kotuwegodandc IG relinquished the appointment of Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force on 08 September 2021.

A series of formalities observed in connection with the relinquishment of the appointment commenced with the reviewing of the Guard Turn Out accorded to the outgoing Commandant on arrival to the venue. He was received by Brigadier SN Samarawickrama KSP, the Inspector of Training – Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force.

Addressing the troops of the Volunteer Force, Major General SampathKotuwegoda extended his gratitude to the Deputy Commandant and the Staff for the assistance and the cooperation throughout his tenure.He unfolded his delighted bliss spelling out his officeas Commandant of the Volunteer Force be reminiscent as one of the best satisfying chapters in his military career.Further, the Senior Officer profoundly expressed his view of being realizedhis maiden thoughturged at the initial step on theHeadquarters pursuing implemented high profile constructions of the Headquarters in the future.

After posing for photographs with the Staff of the Volunteer Force, the outgoing Commandant did not forget to have an exchange of a few words with the Officers and Other Ranks, and after which he was honoured with mementoes in appreciation of his illustrious service to the Volunteer Force.

The proceedings at the Headquarters premises reached the culmination with the departure of Major General Sampath Kotuwegodafrom the Office of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force amidst good-bye cheers of the Officers and Other Ranks who street lined on both sides of the road leading to the Main Gate.

Major General K N S Kotuwegoda will be taking over the duties as the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army which is one of the prestigious appointments in the Army.

The programme of the day was underway following the health directives which have been issued for COVID -19 pandemic of the country.
