COMMANDANT - SLAVF VISITS THE BATTALIONS UNDER SECURITY FORCE (EAST)

Major General J M U D Jayasinghe, the Commandant - SLAVF made a formal visit to the volunteer battalions under 22, 23 and 24 Divisions in the Eastern theatre on 05, 06 and 07 January 2021 upon his assuming office as the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force.

The Senior Officer was accorded a very warm reception on his arrival to the premises by the Commanding Officers of the respective battalions.

During the visit, Commandant SLAVF examined the present status of infrastructure facilities in camp premises and instructed to make remedies for the difficulties confronted by the units. He further instructed to upgrade the communal facilities of officers and soldiers.

Meanwhile, the Commandant addressed the troops of the battalions and emphasized on the significance of their role in preserving the peace of the country and contributing towards the national development projects. He also highlighted the importance of adhering to the ‘Army Way Forward Strategy 2020 - 2025’ implemented by General L H S C Silva, the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army and the need to maintain high standard of discipline, integrity and courage as army personnel.

Further, he explained the role and the responsibility of the army during the COVID 19 pandemic situation while ensuring the national security. Further, he stressed upon the requirement of being erudite on the Regulations of Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force by every officer and soldier of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force.

Inspector of Training of the SLAVF, Brigadier S N Samarawickrama KSP along with Senior Colonel Coordinating Officers, Colonel Coordinating Officers and all ranks of respective battalions participated in the occasion.
