COMMANDANT - SLAVF VISITS THE 2 ND BATTALION SRI LANKA LIGHT INFANTRY

Accrediting due respect and salutation towards the oldest and the first Battalion in the Sri Lanka Army (then Ceylon Volunteer), Major General K N S Kotuwegoda ndc IG, the Commandant - SLAVF made his first formal visit to 2nd Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry on 23 March 2021 upon his assuming office as the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force.

The Senior Officer was warmly received by Major WMS Kumara SLLI , Commanding Officer of the 2nd Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry and a Guard Turnout was accorded on his arrival to the camp premises.

During the visit, Commandant SLAVF examined the present condition of the camp premises and instructed to make remedies for the difficulties confronted by the battalion. He further emphasized on upgrading the administration and other facilities in the Battalion identifying the matters which are required immediate addressed for the smooth functioning of the camp.

Meanwhile, the Commandant addressed the troops and highly emphasized on its prestigious history which laid the foundation for a profound journey in the Sri Lanka Army. As well, he stressed upon the responsibilities of safeguarding and heightening the proficiency, honour and the pride of the battalion, extending uniqueness and integrating the vision and the mission of the organization of the successors. Such alignment indeed paved the way for moulding dignified disciplinary military personnel who would contribute for the qualitative upliftment which directly upgrades the organization.

With the immense admiration which should deserve towards historically rooted establishment in the Sri Lanka Army, the Commandant visited the Regimental Museum which preserves the regimental artifacts. Marking the visit to the 2nd Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry Major General Sampath Kotuwegoda planted a sapling in the camp premises.

Brigadier Logistics SLAVF, Brigadier Administration SLAVF, Colonel Coordinating Officer SFHQ (West), Colonel Coordinating Officer 14 Division, Liaison Officer SLLI along with Senior Officers, Officers and all ranks of the respective battalion participated in the occasion.
