Brigadier P M S Karunaratne psc assumed duties in the office as the Principal Staff Officer of the Headquarters, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force on 07 July 2025.
Following the military formalities, the senior officer placed his signature in an official document signifying the acceptance of his errand in the new appointment at the office amidst the religious rites and observances that invoked blessings on the official assumption of duties.
The senior officer who enlisted in the Regular Force of the Sri Lanka Army on 15 July 1993 under intake 40 and later he became the clan of the Sri Lanka Singha Regiment, which is an elite infantry regiment engaged in combat with the motto of swift and bold.
The senior officer has counted nearly 32 years of active military service and a well-experienced military personality who upholds the essence of the establishment. He is a professionally sound military stance who has earned the qualification of passed staff college and has been serving under key military appointments of command and staff in the course of his military service.
The senior officer is a battle hardened officer who displayed his unwavering dedication to the nation with exceptional courage and discipline and he has been conferred with Desha Putra Sammanaya for sustaining serious injuries while facing terrorist attacks. Further, the military service rendered by the senior officer has been highly recognized, and valued with other service medals.
The senior officer, prior to the new appointment served as the Centre Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps.
