THE BATTALION VISIT OF MAJOR GENERAL THUSITHA SILVA KSP

The 5 th (Volunteer) Battalion of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry ( 5 (V) SLLI) that serves as a combatant force over the time, was paid a courtesy visit by Major General Thusitha Silva KSP- the Deputy Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) on 20 April 2024.

The visit was arranged to extend honour and salutation for the mother unit 5(V) SLLI of Major General Thusitha Silva signifying the terminal visit of his military career upon retirement.

The arrival of the Deputy Commandant, SLAVF to the camp premises, was accepted with customary formalities of a salutation of Guard Turnout along with a warm reception made by the Commanding Officer - 5 (V) SLLI.

The senior officer paid tribute to the memory of fallen war heroes by placing floral wreaths at the Monument.

On the invitation of the Commanding Officer - 5 (V) SLLI, the newly constructed main entrance was declared open by the senior officer making his last visit memorable to the history of the 5 (V) SLLI. The occasion was prompted with a troop address that spelled out the significance of successful and active integration with administrative and other aspects by each and every individual for the betterment of the establishment.

A responsive interaction was made with the gathering by the senior officer, and marking the visit, he placed a complimentary note of appreciation in the Visitors’ Book. The event was attended by Colonel Military Secretary - SLAVF, Assistant Colonel Coordinating Officer – Security Forces Headquarters (Central), Colonel Coordinating Officer - 11 Division, Volunteer Coordinating Officer - Regimental Headquarters SLLI, Coordinating Officer - Sri Lanka Rifle Corps and Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps, Staff Officer 1 (Commandant’s Secretariat), Staff Officer 1(General Cell), Senior Officers and Officers.
