COMMEMORATION OF WAR HEROES AND OFFERING OF ALMSGIVING TO MARK THE 76TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE SRI LANKA ARMY SERVICE CORPS

In line with the 76th Anniversary celebrations of the Sri Lanka Army Service Corps, a War Heroes’ Commemoration and an almsgiving ceremony were held on 25 October 2025 at the Sri Maha Bodhirajarama Temple, Panagoda. The event was organized on the concept of the Adjutant General of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Service Corps, Major General KTP de Silva RSP ndu psc, under the supervision of the Centre Commandant of the Regimental Centre SLASC, Brigadier DPK Gamage RSP USP psc ptsc.

During the ceremony, the supreme sacrifice made by 153 fallen war heroes of the Sri Lanka Army Service Corps, who laid down their lives in defence of the motherland during the war against terrorism, was respectfully commemorated. Almsgiving was offered to 50 Buddhist monks, and merit was invoked upon the departed heroes in remembrance of their noble service to our motherland.

Further, the Chairperson of the Seva Vanitha Branch of the Sri Lanka Army Service Corps, Mrs. Ajantha de Silva, along with senior members of the Seva Vanitha Branch of the Sri Lanka Army Service Corps were attended to the event. In addition, past Colonel Commandants, senior members/ members of the SLASC Ex-Servicemen’s Association, next of kin of the fallen war heroes and many more participated in the ceremony.

The Adjutant General of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Service Corps, Major General KTP de Silva RSP ndu psc, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Also, Commander Logistics Command SFHQ (West), Maj Gen HAM Premaratne ndc psc Lsc, Brigadier (Log) of the HQ SLAVF, Brig KGUT Jayasinghe, The Director, Directorate of Supply and Transport, Brig IB Dasanayaka, Commanding Officers, Many Senior Officers/ Officers of the SLASC and Regiment Sergeant Majors of the respective units/ establishments were graced the event.
