SRI LANKA ARMY SERVICE CORPS - 3RD REGIMENT

Before the commencement of the SLASC, the 1st Sri Lanka Army Service Corps performed all Supply, Transport and Security duties in the North, North Central and Eastern Provinces.

The unit was subsequently commissioned at the auspicious time of 1137 am on June 15, 1989 under the command of Lieutenant Colonel MRU Bandarathilaka SLASC at the Panagoda Army Camp with guidance of the Regimental commander Colonel SV Jayakody. On the 30th June 1989 the 3rd SLASC established on historical Anuradhapura which were the homeland of the ancient kings, and it was established in the Thisawewa area.

Subsequently, this unit was actively involved in the "Rivirasa" mission of the liberation of Jaffna under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Gamini Fernando SLASC in 1995. It served the war heroes as a service force. Later in the same year, the "Sathjaya" mission from Elephant Pass to Paranthan was taken up by then Lieutenant Colonel AN Chandrasekara SLASC. This unit provided a valuable support to soldiers fighting for the "Jayasikuru" mission, which was launched in 1997 to liberate the supply line from Omanthai to Mankulam and Oddusudan.

Under the guidance of Lieutenant Colonel KB Edma SLASC, who was the Commanding Officer of the “Ranagosha Operation” from 1 to 7, the operation to liberate the main supply line from Medawachchiya to Mannar and the acquirer of the Madhu area commenced in 1997. Provide Supply and Transport services to infantry and support units.

At present, this unit is in the process of delivering logistic services covering the area of SFHQ (Vanni), which has established with seven Composite Squadrons, SLASC sections and a General transport squadron.

The first Commanding Officer was Colonel MRU Bandarathilake establishing the 3rd Sri Lanka Army unit on 2010.03.12, Major AMN Krishnaratne SLASC as the first 2nd in Command 3rd Sri Lanka Army Service Corps.
