New SLASC Colonel Commandant Takes the Office
Brigadier Ruwan Gunatilaka took over office as the 14th Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Service Corps (SLASC) in a simple military ceremony, held at Panagoda at the Regimental Headquarters on Tuesday (27) and the parade for the newly appointed Colonel Commandant was awarded on Wednesday 28th February 2018.
The new SLASC Colonel Commandant on arrival at the premises was greeted to a Guard Turnout and a Ceremonial Parade in conformity with military traditions after he was welcomed by the Overlooking SLASC Centre Commandant, Colonel Dilip Kumara. Brigadier Ruwan Gunatilaka who is also the Director of Directorate of Supply and Transport – Army Headquarters, afterwards placed his signature in an official document to signify the acceptance of the new office, amidst 'Seth Pirith' chanting of members of the Maha Sangha. As an acclaimed tradition of the Corps, Colonel Commandant planted a mango tree at the RHQ premises.
A Ceremonial Parade that followed saluted the new Colonel Commandant and all troops of 9 Battalions were addressed. At RHQ Conference hall, he addressed the Commanding Officers, all Staff Officers and Warrant Officer and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers of the Corps. He exposed his future vision for the SLASC. An All Rank tea arrangement brought the day's event to end.
