SRI LANKA ARMY SERVICE CORPS - 8TH REGIMENT

After nearly 30 years of war, the Sri Lankan Army underwent extensive transformation. As a result, the Army was reorganized into seven Security Forces Headquarters. Accordingly, after the establishment of the Security Forces Headquarters (Central) in Diyatalawa, the supply and transport duties to the Div / Bde/ Unit / Schools controlled by the Headquarters were rendered by the Composite Squadron 120,140 and 150, but not assigned to as the 8th member of the service force family to perform the task more efficiently and systematically. The 8th Sri Lanka Army Service Corps was established on 01.06.2015 in the Menikkanda area of Diyatalawa.

Accordingly, the Squadron (120), now called the 810 Composite Squadron (Kandy), the 150 Composite Squadron (Viravila) at the time, is now known as the 820 Composite Squadron and the 140 Composite Squadron (Diyatalawa) latest General Transport Squadron 8 SLASC and Headquarters Squadron.

Accordingly, the following Squadrons have been established by the 8th Sri Lanka Army Service Corps covering the Diyatalawa area for effective and efficient delivery of transport and transport duties.

Headquarters Squadron - Diyatalawa
Supply Squadron - Diyatalawa
Public Transport Squadron - Diyatalawa
810 Combined Squadron - Kandy
820 Combined Squadron – Weerawila

Lieutenant Colonel KGUT Jayasingha was the first Commanding Officer of the 8th Sri Lanka Army Service Corps for on 01.06.2015 in it’s inaguration

In 31st May 2013 the Equestrian Sqaudron was established at SLMA and It’s performing all cavlcade activities enstrasted to Sri Lanka Army. They 15 are horses available at the Independent Equestrian Sqaudron at present
