SRI LANKA ARMY SERVICE CORPS - 4TH REGIMENT

As a result of the widespread expansion of the Army, the 4th Regiment of the Sri Lanka Army Service Corps was temporarily established in the vicinity of the historic Senkadagala Town of Sri Dalada Maligawa under the then 3rd Task Force Headquarters.

This unit was established temporally and a half of the land belonging to the Department of Agriculture, Gannoruwa. However, with the relocation of the 3rd Task Force Headquarters at Pallekele to the Batticalo area within 6 months unit had move to Technical College, Ampara. This unit is located in the Ampara area to provide Supplies and Transport duties to Corps Headquarters, Brigade Headquarters, training schools and units of this area. Due to the necessity of carrying out the duties of providing supply and transport services for the operations in the Eastern Province after a short period of six months, the unit was re-established at Punani Army Base on 20.09.1993. Due to the security situation prevailing at that time it was inappropriate to relocate from the Poonani camp despite the difficulties of location this unit was moved to Pulathisigama Gamuda land close to Hingurakgoda town on 17.03.1995 to provide the supply and transport support to the SFHQ (East).   Read More...
