Before the commencement of the SLASC, the 1st Sri Lanka Army Service Corps performed all Supply, Transport and Security duties in the North, North Central and Eastern Provinces.
The unit was subsequently commissioned at the auspicious time of 1137 am on June 15, 1989 under the command of Lieutenant Colonel MRU Bandarathilaka SLASC at the Panagoda Army Camp with guidance of the Regimental commander Colonel SV Jayakody.
