MEDICAL CORPS BIDS FAREWELL TO MAJ GENERAL KP SUMANAPALA

Maj Gen KP Sumanapala was accorded with the Ceremonial Parade at the Regimental Centre on 08 April 2019 in respect of his 35 years of invaluable service to the Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps. He is due to retire from the Sri Lanka Army on 08 April 2019.

Maj Gen KP Sumanapala enlisted to the Sri Lanka Army on 26 June 1984, and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant and joined the Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps and served over 35 years of unblemished service in his career in the Army. He has served in many part of the country and holds the appointment as a Director General Army Health Services before his retirement.

Maj Gen KP Sumanapala was warmly welcomed by the Centre Commandant Brig DG Hewage RSP on his arrival to the Corps Headquarters. He inspected the guard turnout and thereafter, he was accorded with the Ceremonial Parade at the Parade Square. After the Parade, Maj Gen KP Sumanapala planted a Mango sapling in the premises of the Corps Headquarters building. Thereafter, Regimental Sergeant Major invited the Senior Offrs for the tea organized by the All Ranks. After having the tea, the street linings consist of All Officers and Other Ranks greeted as "Jaya Sri" for the retiring Maj Gen KP Sumanapala.

In the evening a Dinner Night Hosted to Mrs Sarojini Sumanapala and Maj Gen KP Sumanapala at the Officers’ Mess with a large gathering of Officers including Maj Gen SH Munasinghe RWP RSP VSV USP, The Col Comdt of SLAMC to felicitate on his retirement.
