Major General PAC Fernando USP

Maj Gen Chrisantha Fernando was born at Maggona, Aluthgama on 06 October 1964. He did his primary education at Roman Catholic College Diyalegoda and Kaluthara Vidyalaya and subsequently he entered to the Faculty of Medicine at University of Colombo. During his final year at the University, he joined the Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps as a second Lieutenant on 15 October 1990. After completion of MBBS Degree, Maj Gen Chrisantha Fernando registered as a Medical Officer in Sri Lanka Medical Council and he was promoted to the rank of Captain and completes the basic military training at Sri Lanka Military Academy Diyathalawa. Having posted to 1st battalion of Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps and Maj Gen Chrisantha Fernando worked many operational and non-operational areas during the period of high intensity battle.

Further, Maj Gen Chrisantha Fernando did his post graduate studies at Post Graduate Institute of Medicine and board certified as a Consultant Anesthetist in Feb 2004

During his tenure in the Army he held various appointments, such as Officer Commanding Army Base Hospital Diyathalawa, Officer Commanding Army Base Hospital Palaly, 2nd In Command 1 SLAMC, 2ndIn Command Army Hospital Colombo, Deputy Director Army Medical Services, Director Army Hospital Colombo and Director Army Medical Services.

Maj Gen Chrisantha Fernando assumed the duties as the Director General Army Health Services on 12 May 2020 and as the Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps on 13 May 2020.
