OPENING OF NEW ARMY HOSPITAL

His Excellency the President Mahinda Rajapaksa declared opened the largest new Military Hospital on 05th of May 2014. The ceremony was held at the Military Hospital premises in Narahenpita. Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Commander of the Sri Lanka Army Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake accompanied the president on a visit to witness the new facility during the ceremony. A special stamp was also issued symbolically to mark the grand opening ceremony and the first stamp was presented to the President.

The 10 storied new Army hospital comprised of multi-faceted facilities could accommodate over thousand patients per day at the OPD and it comprised over 1024 beds for admissions. Moreover exclusive consultancy services are also available for Tri-services and Police personnel. The ten storied hospital building is comprised of 20 well-equipped Wards.The resourceful new hospital has also been equipped with Sterilization and Supply Division (SSD) facilities, roomy OPD section, MRI scanning services, roof-topped helicopter-pad, automatic x-ray screening machines, pair of modular operation theatres, Pathology Laboratory, Radiology Unit, Dermatology Unit, Medical Air and Nurses calling facilities, labour room, 12 dental surgery units, cafeteria, auditorium with 314 seats, medicine store and a galley.
