Troops of the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi avoided a major disaster when they prevented a possible breach of Vannivilankulam tank bund in Kilinochchi District on 08 Nov 18.
The tank bund suffered a damage following the torrential heavy rain full experienced last day. Soldiers joined hands to set up sand bags that would save the bund from further collapsing.
04 x 53 troops of 10th Sri Lanka Light Infantry and 21 (V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry under the 65 Division, took immediate action to place sandbags to prevent further damage to the tank bund. Guidance and assistance have been given by the Divisional Secretary - Manthei East and officials of irrigation and agricultural service departments.
