Sinhala and Tamil New Year festival which symbolizes cultural unity between the two communities organized by the 57 Division -Kilinochchi was held on 17 April 2019 at Shiwapuram public ground - Paranthan under the guidance of Commander Security Force Kilinochchi, Major General Vijitha Ravipriya with the supervision of Major General Wasantha Kummarapperuma overlooking General Officer Commanding of 57 Division. Major General Wasantha Kummarapperuma General officer commanding 65 Division, overlooking General Officer Commanding of 57 Division graced the event as the chief guest.

Lighting of the traditional oil lamp signified the commencement of the day's event. This festival included a variety of traditional/modern games. More than 1000 civilians also participated for the event while sharing their joys with military personnel. All Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks from Division Headquarter, under command Brigades and Battalions participated in the event. Valuable prizes were presented to the winners and participants.

The Awurudu Kumariya contest and Musical Show were held in the evening. It was highlighted that significant number of Tamil ladies participated for Awurudu Kumariya contest for which more than 10 ladies who are living in Kilinochchi area participated. The spectators enjoyed the musical evening which electrified by ‘Creators’ beat band 3 Engineering Service Regiment and Sha & Sha band Homagama with FM Derana media team. Musical evening was boosted by the dazzling dancing performances by ‘Shathranga’ dancing team.
